Travel Update!

We just found out that we'll be traveling to Almaty on Monday, March 3rd which means we'll be picking up the girls on Wednesday, March 5th now. If all goes well the twins will be in Utah on the 8th!

Just got the news!

We pick the girls up on Monday, March 10th. Our US Embassy exit appointment will be on Wednesday which means we'll be on our way home with the girls by the 13th!

We're Back in Utah!

We arrived home late Wednesday night to find ourselves right in the middle of a huge snow storm. We had to do some last minute scrambling to find a ride home since the kids got stuck the traffic disaster at the Point of the Mountain. Thank goodness for a cab driver that was willing to brave the weather to get us home. It only took 3 hours but we arrived safe and sound!

Next Steps!

Jon and I are currently sitting in the Almaty Airport. We have a 4 hour lay over and then we're off to Germany to catch our flight back to the States. We should be back in Utah around 7PM Wednesday night.

The judge approved our adoption today and after our 15 day waiting period they'll start all the final paperwork on the adoption. Once the final paperwork is in place we'll be able to return to bring our daughters home (approx. 3 to 4 weeks from today). It was very emotional leaving them this afternoon knowing it would be a long separation and hoping they don't forget us while we're gone.

So what's next? We wait until they say we can return. Thankfully the return trip will only be a few days while we do medical exams and an embassy exit interview.

We can't wait to show all the pictures and videos we've taken. Kazakhstan is an amazing country with an equally amazing history.

Tuesday morning started out kinda scarey...

...we woke up early to go to court and waited for our driver.  And waited, and waited...but the driver never showed up. After scrambling to make a few phone calls locally we gave up and sent Zac a text to call Chris Ivins about the problem. She was able to get a hold of our contacts over here. Turns out they postponed our court appearance to 2:30 and couldn't get a hold of us because we were already outside waiting to be picked up.
