On More Item off the Check List!

We went to the notary today (Thursday, February 7th). We had to sign a few more documents that would be used in court next week. Olga swears these documents allow Larisa to be our translator and that we’re taking 2 children. Jon’s pretty sure we’ve signed the rights to our house and cars away since everything is in Russian. I’ll have to admit it’s pretty scary signing a document you can’t read but we were told before we came if you can’t trust them don’t go. Good thing we trust them!

Ministry Interview Done!

We got a surprise call this afternoon as we were preparing to go for our second visit. Olga called to let us know that our appt with the Ministry would be this afternoon – one hour notice!

They said our interview was successful. We were a little panicked going in. Larisa was there to translate for us. They asked us how old we were. Do we have biologic children? What we do for a living? Will the boys become jealous of the girls (they’re going to be a lot of work you know)? How do we discipline? How are the boys doing in school both academically and discipline wise? The interview was only about 5 minutes but pretty nerve racking. They asked questions in Russian, Larisa translated, we answered, and Larisa translated. At one point they laughed I have no idea about what and didn't dare ask why. Jon thinks it had to do with the way I answered the question about discipline. We take away earned rights and privileges. Zac and Jaiden just love to have their DS time reduced .

They let us know today that court will be February 12th at 9am. We’ll have our Tea Party after court and prepare to fly home. We can hardly believe that our first trip is coming to an end.

Playtime continues!

The girls are doing great. They’re both so happy and love to be held.

Xenia’s favorite thing is to crawl over to the table and pull herself up. It doesn’t matter what’s up there or not up there she just loves to being like the big kids. She'll stand there for a long time before she gets brave and starts walking around the table. When she’s done she gets herself down and then crawls to her next destination. She’s very busy! She was full of smiles and giggles.

Sophia is really getting the hang of walking around while she’s holding your finger. She’s not brave enough to do it yet with just one hand but she’s motoring along. She’s even picking up her speed. She still loves to chase a balloon around like a soccer ball. She’s still not crawling but we did get her to cross the room today a couple times doing the army crawl. Just like her sister she was full of smiles and gigles today!

Another Big Day in the Process!

We signed our adoption application yesterday. It was sent off to the Ministry today. We should have our Ministry interview later this week and if we pass our interview with flying colors we'll go to court next week (hopefully Tuesday) to finalize the adoption!
